Coffee’s hip-hop dance manga Wandance is on its way to the screen this October. Ahead of that, audiences in Japan will get a chance to check it out early thanks to a pair of pre-screening events at Shinjuku Piccadilly on September 27, with a stage event with lead actors in attendance to follow.
The rest of us will have to be content with the stylish new visual below in the meantime.
We previously got to see the anime’s first full trailer.
Michiya Kato directs Wandance, with K-pop choreographer RIEHATA as dance producer and MADHOUSE and CYCLONE GRAPHICS handling animation production.
Wandance kicked off its run in Monthly Afternoon magazine in January 2019 and has been collected in 13 volumes to date. Kodansha USA publishes the series in English and sums up the story like so:
Wandance Plot
Kaboku Kotani is starting high school, and he plans to do what he’s always done: go along with his friends, keep quiet, and not to draw too much attention to himself. After all, it’s hard enough to get by with a stutter like his—why make things worse by standing out from the crowd? But then he sees another first-year, Hikari Wanda, dancing like no one is watching—or like she doesn’t care who sees her. It makes Kaboku wonder: Could he reach that same freedom? To find his way to Wanda, he does something he never thought he could: He joins the dance club. After all, every routine begins with a single step, right?
