Wakakozake TV Drama Continues with Season 9 This October

Wakakozake

Chie Shinkyu’s Wakakozake manga has been running since September 2011 and has inspired both anime and live-action adaptations. For the latter, a ninth season is currently on the horizon, and the latest set of episodes will officially kick off their broadcast on BS TV Tokyo starting on October 1.

Here’s what lead actor Rina Takeda—who plays Wakako Murasaki—had to say about the latest entry:

“Season 8 aired in January this year, and I am delighted that we are already welcoming Season 9 so soon. This time, I visited Hokkaido and Fukushima, and even stopped by a zoo. Of course, I also visited my favorite izakaya, a deep drinking district, a stylish bar, and even enjoyed ramen while saying ‘Pshuuu!’ The taste that can be encountered by going the extra mile and the warmth of the people. Through ‘Wakako Murasaki,’ I myself was able to experience that by spending special time, one may be able to feel something special in everyday life as well. We hope that the delicious food and warmth of others will heal your tired body and mind from the summer heat, and we hope that ‘Wakakozake Season 9’ will be a part of that!”

Crunchyroll streams the Wakakozake TV anime and describes it like so:

Based on the mouth-watering anime, Wakakozake brings you Murasaki Wakako, a 26-year-old OL that loves nothing more than delicious food and drink. Wakako’s favorite thing to do for relaxation is to go off by herself after work and go to various places to eat and drink, even if she’s never been there before. The moment Wakako is able to taste the pairing between the food she wants to eat and the perfect accompanying drink, the happy sound of “Pshuuu” leaves her lips. Now, then. Where shall we drink tonight?
